Things You Need To Know - Overnight Camping
  • Your group must book a minimum of ten people (youth and leaders).
  • All campers, youth and leaders must pay required fees.
  • Reservations cannot be confirmed until your non-refundable deposit is received. Total payment is due 60 days prior to arrival.
  • Combining all groups scheduled to sleep aboard YORKTOWN there must be a minimum of forty campers registered or that night will not be available.
  • Campers must be at least six years old.
  • One chaperone for every ten campers is required. Chaperones must be parents or responsible adults.
  • Patriots Point does not allow visitors and campers to bring aboard outside food and drink. A snack bar and vending machines are available in addition to scheduled meals.
  • Each person must bring a sleeping bag, pillow, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, towel, wash cloth and all other necessary personal effects. Insect repellent is advisable.
  • Berthing areas are separated by gender, without exception. Female leaders must be responsible for female participants and male leaders for male participants.
  • We cannot take requests for specific berthing areas for a number of reasons including group sizes and gender considerations.
  • The berthing quarters are heated and air conditioned. Shower stalls are located in the restroom facilities adjacent to all berthing quarters.
  • The State Fire Marshall requires all campers participate in a brief fire drill. All campers must be on board YORKTOWN by 8:30 p.m., without exception.
  • Occasionally, catered events and ceremonies take place while campers are on board. Without compromising your group's experience, campers may be asked to avoid some areas.
  • The overnight camping program features a full schedule of activities. If your group would like to visit other area attractions, please plan on doing so before or after your stay at Patriots Point (i.e. Oceanography/Sailing Merit Badge classes and visits to other sites NOT scheduled by the PP staff).
  • Patriots Point has adaptors to power Nebulizers and CPAP machines.
  • There is limited seating on the Boat Tour to Fort Sumter Excursion. Once full, you will be assigned to your 2nd or 3rd excursion choice. Also, boats will not run the week before, the week of, and the week after Easter.
