Each year groups from throughout the world visit Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, Home of the USS Yorktown. For groups not overnighting in Charleston, Patriots Point is less than two hours by motorcoach from Myrtle Beach, Savannah, or Columbia, and less than an hour from I-95.
At Patriots Point your group can explore the famed aircraft carrier, affectionately known to her sailors as "The Fighting Lady." But there is more to explore. Patriots Point is home of the prestigious Museum of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, headquartered onboard the Yorktown.
At Patriots Point your group can visit the only Vietnam Naval Support Base Camp in the country. Climbing in and out of cockpits; being served lunch on the same WWII medal trays the sailors were served on in the Chief Petty Officer Galley; exploring a submarine; or inspecting 26 famed aircraft are but a few of the memorable experiences they can share with friends and family.
Patriots Point is more than ships and aircraft. In our standards based education and marine science programs, groups can experiencing pulling up a cast net, participate in the scientific study of oyster bed restoration and conduct oceanographic experiments such as taking salinity tests and plankton samples.
Each year, as part of our overnight program, thousands of Scouts and students experience sleeping in the berthing compartments and dining in the same mess galleys once used by crew. The USS Yorktown is a real, touch and experience museum.
Special programs are seasonal, but we strive to customize your trip to ensure all will leave happy and anxious to return.
