18 April Scout Topgun!

Waring Hills Apr 19, 2009

Boy Scout Troop 245 from Cumming, Georgia, attended the aviation merit badge class onboard Yorktown this weekend at Patriots Point. The troop did a pretty good job in the combat portion, and a few scouts got 2 kills on their flights (not a good idea when there are only 2 planes in the fight, definitely not career enhancing!).  Scout Russell Wofford made an overshoot on his attack, but made a nice recovery with his Hellcat and got in position for a reattack…result splash one Betty… and Russell achieved Topgun status. He is only the 5th scout to earn this achievement in 2009.
