New Patriots Point Education Center Complete!

Waring Hills Mar 17, 2010

The new high technology Patriots Point Education Center was officially opened last night (see Post and Courier article here). The new center was built with donations from the Patriots Point Foundation, World War II veterans groups and several major donors, including the town of Mount Pleasant, Piggly Wiggly, Santee Cooper, Force Protection, Regions Bank, Carolina First Bank, Southcoast Bank, and First Federal Savings & Loan Association.

The new education center contains a marine science laboratory, a “Smart Board,” and audiovisual conferencing equipment allowing for distance education across the nation and world. 3400 students from the Charleston County School District have already utilized the marine science lab as part of the 5th grade History and Science program onboard.

"Smart Board" on the left and audiovisual conferencing HD (high definition) camera and TV monitor to right in the new education center.

Students get to touch a "Puffer" fish at the touch tank in the marine science lab.
