Patriots Point Naval & Maritime MuseumPatriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum has reopened to visitors following Hurricane Matthew.  Aside from a few downed trees and a small plumbing issue, the museum was unharmed by the high winds and heavy rain.  All 28 aircraft remained secure and the three warships remained moored safely to the pier.

“Our staff worked really hard to secure our museum before the storm and it showed,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette.  “Now that Matthew has passed, we will be spreading the word that the coast is clear and we are moving full speed ahead with all plans for the fall.”

Patriots Point also announced two new discounts as part of their ongoing 40th anniversary celebration.  A new “40-40-4” deal celebrates 40 years, more than 40 different exhibits, and offers a four dollar discount for Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester County residents.  Guests must supply proof of residence in the form of a picture identification card or current utility bill.

The second discount is being offered through Groupon.  Guests, regardless of where they live, are offered two tickets for the price of one.  The Groupon deal will run through January.

“We hope people take advantage of these special offers and come walk in the steps of our country’s bravest heroes,” said Burdette.

During Hurricane Matthew, several of the videos taken by Patriots Point’s communication team were used on national news networks.  Below is the best footage.
