asmith Mar 06, 2013

festivalPatriots Point Naval & Maritime is proud to welcome the 2013 Sweet Grass Music Festival on Saturday, March 16!  The festival will bring together some of the top names in bluegrass, including headliner and Grammy-award winner Rhonda Vincent, as well as Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out and Sierra Hull for a full day of music, delicious food and family fun.

The day begins with a 5K run at 7:30 a.m. Music starts at 10 a.m. and continues through 9 p.m. The festival will be held rain or shine, and chairs are welcome (please, no coolers or pets).

The event will be hosted in the Patriots Point Grove – one of 20 unique event spaces offered at Patriots Point for every type of special event. A wide variety of spaces accommodate groups sized 35 to 3,500 people, aboard the USS Yorktown, USS Laffey, on the pier and on land.

Recent improvements to The Grove have supplied electricity to provide ample power support for concerts and other large events in this grassy shaded grove with views of the Yorktown.  In addition, lighting will ensure that guests enjoy a comfortable and safe environment.

“We are pleased to welcome such a phenomenal lineup of performers to Patriots Point for the 2013 Sweet Grass Music Festival,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette.  “Set under a canopy of trees with views of the USS Yorktown, it is the perfect venue for an afternoon or evening concert, a scout gathering or company cookout.”

Tickets are available for $25 (advance) and $30 (gate) and all proceeds will benefit local charities, including the USS Yorktown (CV-10) Association, ALS Association SC, TTTS Foundation, and The A21 Campaign.
