Patriots Point to Host Memorial Day Observance
asmith May 24, 2013Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will host a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27 to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation’s freedom and freedom of millions worldwide over the course of our nation’s history.
“On this solemn day set aside to honor our nation’s fallen war heroes, I hope all Lowcountry residents will take a moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of those who gave their all in defense of our nation’s freedom,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette.
This year, instead of featuring a guest speaker, the museum will invite members of the audience to come forward and say a few words about someone they would like to be remembered for giving their life for the freedoms we take for granted every day. Guests can simply state the person’s name or say a few words about them.
“We really want to personalize this ceremony,” Burdette added. “We hope many will come to ‘share a remembrance.”’
Veterans groups and members of the public are encouraged to attend the program and the museum will offer free admission from 8 – 9 a.m.

Patriots Point to Welcome Nine Millionth Visitor... Could it Be You?
Hello,
I was looking on your web site for the Memorial Day Observance and didn’t see one listed? I have attended these ceremonies in the past and have always enjoyed honoring our fallen Hero’s and taking the USS Yorktown tour. I hope that you will be having one this year.
Thank You
