On Saturday, April 19th, the Youth Overnight Camping Program at Patriots Point topped the 400-thousand mark thanks to Cub Scout Pack 502 from Liberty North Carolina.
The Scouts and chaperones were outfitted with t-shirts celebrating their record breaking status on board USS Yorktown. The 400-thousand mark has attracted media attention and on April 19th interviews with Pack 502 Scouts were broadcast on the NBC and ABC television affiliates.
The Youth Overnight Camping program began in 1980 but the current decade has been a time of spectacular growth. Prestigious organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America have ranked the Patriots Point Overnight Camping program one of the best field trip experiences in the country.
Faith and religious group travel organizations have celebrated the Patriots Point Overnight Camping for years.
