This spring Patriots Point celebrates the 65th anniversary of USS Yorktown’s commissioning and we need your help in celebrating the great ships “birthday”.
The aircraft carrier was brought, under tow, to Charleston Harbor from Bayonne, New Jersey in June of 1975. Thousand of people lined Charleston Harbor and hundred more were in boats to greet CV-10 and what would become the cornerstone of the new Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.
We’re looking for old pictures, film, memorabilia and anything else folks would like to share from the day USS Yorktown came to Charleston. In fact, we’d like to hear your story!
Contact our Director of Communications, Jim McElroy, through email at jmcelroy@patriotspoint.org or call (843) 881-5925. Help us celebrate the 65th anniversary of one of the United States Navy’s greatest vessels… USS Yorktown (CV-10).
