On Sunday, December 7, 2014, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will honor the victims of the attack on Pearl Harbor, particularly the 25 South Carolinians who died, with a memorial service. The Pearl Harbor Day Memorial will be held onboard the USS Yorktown at 11 a.m. Medal of Honor Recipient Major General James Livingston will be a guest speaker. The ceremony is being organized by the Mt. Pleasant VFW Post. Visitors will be offered free admission for the ceremony. Parking is $5.

Opening on November 8th 2014, this new “living history” exhibit will feature a US Marine Corps Artillery Firebase and a “Brown Water Navy” Support Base. Our new interactive equipment will include: two Bell UH-1 “Huey” helicopters, 105mm Howitzer, a Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter, Wilys m725 ambulance, a Sikorsky UH-34 Sea Horse Helicopter and a very rare MK1 PBR (Patrol River Boat). We will frequently feature re-enactors and Vietnam veterans to enhance the experience.

Former crew members of the USS YORKTOWN will reunite on the aircraft carrier through October 18th.

On New Year’s Eve, the last ticket will be sold at 2 p.m. and the museum will close at 3:30 p.m. The museum will resume normal hours of operation on January 1.

VFW will host a ceremony to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
