  1. What a thrill, touring the sister ship I served on from 59/63 in fire room # 2 CV 9 Essex. After 49 years too return to an alike ship brought found memories and tears. What a day we had as I could still explain the daily chores we under went while at sea. My tour included Bay of pigs, 2 Med cruises one to the North Sea, England, Ireland, Scottland, Germany and Holland. We were also assign duty during the Cuban blockaid. I obtain rank of a 2 class BT and spent 38 years as a boiler inspector for the Hartford Ins. Co. Thanks too all who help save a great part if out military history.

    • Regular admission fees apply after the complimentary one. An adult ticket is $20. For all of our ticketing prices, you can see them under the “Buy Tickets” menu on our website.

  2. We are in town for the weekend and were excited to see this event. That is until we saw the NO retractable leashes rule. That is all that we brought with us. Disappointed that Paws at the Point doesn’t trust dog owners to control their own dog. I am certainly not going to purchase a new leash in order to do this as what would be the point. Why not just pay the admission price. This is not an event that is “tourist friendly.” So disappointing.

    • Hi Beth! We understand your concern and we have a solution. The no retractable leash rule is for the safety of all pets and owners, and it came at the recommendation of some organizations that hold these events on a regular basis. Yet, we did not want to leave anyone hanging or turn anyone away, so Charleston Dog Wizard has donated leashes to give out to guests who only have retractable leashes. We would never want anyone to feel they were not able to come join us. Hope this helps address your concern, and that we will see you tomorrow rain or shine!
