Laffey is being prepped for movement.

Preparations have been under way to get Laffey ready for her short trip to Detyens Shipyard drydock at the old Charleston Navy Base. In the picture above, you can see the equipment located on the pier being used to get Laffey ready for her tow to drydock. Notice the red flag (Bravo in the Navy alphabet) flying on the mast of Laffey. The second photo below shows the movement of sections of the Charleston Harbor marina, clearing a lane for tug boats to get in and tow Laffey out on the 19th of August.

Charleston Harbor marina has been moving sections of its dock to make room for movement of Laffey and Ingham in August.

We will have a perigeal tide at 7:58 PM on 19 August at a height of 6.8 feet and the tides along the east coast of the United States have been running about a foot higher than normal in the past month.
