Tickets to Patriots Point’s Fourth of July Fireworks Blast Now on Sale

Chris Hauff Jun 02, 2014

Celebrate the Fourth of July on board one of the most historic warships in the United States, the USS YORKTOWN on the Charleston Harbor at Patriots Point.  Tickets for the Fourth of July Blast are now being sold on the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum’s website www.patriotspoint.org.

This year Patriots Point is offering two ticket options.  The first starts at $30.   Guests who purchase these tickets can watch our powerful fireworks display from one of the most unique viewing platforms in the country, the USS YORKTOWN’s Flight Deck.

The $30 dollar ticket includes special access to the ship starting at 6:00 p.m., with food and beverages available for purchase.   There will also be live music by the Explorers Club and East Coast Party Band.  Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs.

The second, all new VIP ticket is priced at $75.  This ticket will include complimentary drinks from a full service bar.  VIP’s will also have access to a special area at the bow of the ship, and chairs and tables will be provided.

“There really is no better way to enjoy the 4th of July here in the Lowcountry,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette.  “People couldn’t wait for these tickets to go on sale, and we expect them to sell out fast.”  Burdette also thanked Stevens Towing, the Town of Mount Pleasant, the City of Charleston, Parker Rigging, Salmons Dredging Corporation and the USS Yorktown Foundation for their support of the event.

In addition to both Flight Deck packages, guests also have the option of enjoying the fireworks display landside.  Admission to this area is free; however, parking will cost $10 per vehicle.   Please remember to arrive early.  Parking will be available starting at 4:00 p.m.

Please see below for important information and frequently asked questions:

• Parking is $10/vehicle for everyone.

• All ticket sales are final.  In the case of inclement weather, there will be no refunds or exchanges.  Everyone on board the USS Yorktown must have a ticket.  The admission fee will only be waived for infants brought in their parents’ arms.

• Guests who have tickets to the flight deck will be granted access to the ship starting at 6 p.m.  There is no outside food/beverage permitted on the flight deck.  Coolers are also not allowed on the ship or pier. Tables and chairs will only be provided to those who purchased VIP tickets. For others, we recommend bringing your own lawn chair.  Live music will begin at approximately 6 p.m.

• For the landside celebration, live music will kick off at 5 p.m. with kids activities beginning at 4 p.m. (As always, it is free to watch the fireworks from the landside of the museum)

• The fireworks will be shot from a barge in the Cooper River.  We have taken extra measures to ensure the barge is located in an area that will provide the highest visibility for our guests.  In addition, we will be placing signs on landside areas were viewing may be limited.

• No pets, except for service animals, are permitted at Patriots Point for the Fourth of July Blast.

• We will have vendors available to purchase food/drink on both the flight deck and landside.  ATMs will be available.

• Handicapped access to flight deck is offered via elevator. A limited number of wheel chairs will also be available.

• The USS Yorktown will be open for the public to tour from 9 – 5:00 p.m.  The last ticket will be sold at the Ticket Office at 4 p.m. Adult tickets (12+) are $20, child tickets (6-11) are $12 and children 6 and under are free.

• The sun is expected to set around 8:32 p.m.  The fireworks will begin once it is dark, which is normally by 9 – 9:15 p.m.

That really stinks that you have to purchase a ticket for a toddler for the 4th of July When Patriots Point normal policy is under 6 is free. I was going to purchase the VIP tickets but not now. Not to mention theres no veteran discount.

    1. Chris Hauff says:

      Hi Matthew,

Perhaps you can watch the show landside for free. We are only charging $10 per vehicle to park and there will be live music and plenty of activities for children.

  2. DJ says:

    Hi,

Are coolers for food and drinks allowed on the landside?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

Hi DJ, Yes you can bring your own coolers if you plan to stay landside. They will not be allowed on the pier or ship.

  3. Paul Duke says:

There is a discrepancy in ticket prices for the flight deck, the website http://www.patriotspoint.org/fourth lists $20 and this site lists $30. Neither one includes parking. Which is correct.

    1. Chris Hauff says:

      Paul,
The website that lists the $20 price is from last year’s event. Here is a link to this year’s page. https://secure4.gatewayticketing.com/PatriotsPoint/shop/ViewItems.aspx?CG=JULY4th&C=CGJULY Parking is not included in the price and will cost $10 per vehicle.

  5. marvin wigley says:

When did this event have a cover charge to tour the ships on the 4th of july, this event used to be free. You would be able to tour all ships as well as the base camp for free for the entire day, then would be able to watch the fireworks landside. I have not seen a better fireworks show since, this was a family tradition for years when we lived in Summerville, we moved away about 9yrs ago and until this year we havent been able to return, this event is even better than the DC 4th show that they have at our nations capital.

  6. diane wiggins says:

Please call me at 843-875-1841. I own Krazey Zone obstable course parties and would be very interested in doing this festival. I have a lot of obstacles and it goes from 1 year olds to adults. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

So, you don’t offer a discount for veterans/active duty? You know the reason why were able to celebrate our independence at all right?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

We are very thankful for our military, and we actually offer free admission to the museum every day to those who come in uniform. We also give daily discounts to those who can show a military ID.

  8. J. Alfred says:

Does the area of the deck that costs $30 for the fireworks show has adequate safety railings in place to protect children from fall hazards? Do you have any photos of this area?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

We have a dual railings (one on two separate levels) that are designed to protect children from falling off of the ship.

  9. Lynn says:

If we purchased the flight deck tickets and we cannot board until 6 – will there be guaranteed parking available (understand the cost) for ticket holders or do we need to arrive 2 hours early to insure we get a parking spot?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

      Hi Lynn,
We can’t guarantee that there will be parking, however, there should still be spots available. We recommend getting here as early as you can.

  10. Jen says:

We have children ages 10 & 3. Is ticket price $30 for them? I did not see children’s pricing options when trying to purchase tickets online.

    1. Chris Hauff says:

      Hi Jen,
Yes, the ticket price is the same for everyone. Don’t forget, we also are selling landside parking passes for only $10.

  11. Colton Bennett says:

Are the tickets sold online only? Or will they also be sold at the gate on the day of the 4th?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

The flight deck tickets are being sold online. The landside option will be sold on the 4th.

  12. Heather says:

If we want to go to each museum is it $20 per area or is it $20 will give you access to all the museum?

    1. Chris Hauff says:

$20 buys access to all of our exhibits. You can also choose to buy a $6 audio tour. We just started selling those last week and they are well worth the money!

  13. Michelle Travis says:

I tried to but tickets online and it is showing sold out for tickets on the boat. I need 8. I have family from out of town coming in for this event specifically. Does anyone know of a way to get tickets?

  14. Denise Jacobs Sims says:

I can’t access the ticket page for the 4th of July celebration. Your link produced an error page. Can you help? I am from Kentucky and would like to experience the fireworks from the Yorktown.

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Ms. Sims, tickets have not gone on sale yet for the July 4th 2015 celebration. They will likely go on sale in June. The page you were using was for 2014 tickets. Stay tuned for 2015 tickets. Thanks for your interest.
