On Sunday, December 7, 2014, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will honor the victims of the attack on Pearl Harbor, particularly the 25 South Carolinians who died, with a memorial service.  The Pearl Harbor Day Memorial will be held onboard the USS Yorktown at 11 a.m.  Medal of Honor Recipient Major General James Livingston will be a guest speaker. The ceremony is being organized by the Mt. Pleasant VFW Post. Visitors will be offered free admission for the ceremony. Parking is $5.

We will examine the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.   Two United States Army batallalions and three Marine Corps battalions defeated 10 battalions from the People’s Army of Vietnam and the Viet Cong.   The battle took place in 1968.

We will breakdown the first major battle between the United States Army and the People’s Army of Vietnam/North Vietnam during the Vietnam War.  The Battle of Ia Drang Valley took place between November 14 and November 18, 1965 and involved close air support by U.S. aircraft and a strategic bombing strike by B-52s.
