Welcome back, teachers! We're excited to bring you yet another opportunity to receive 20 recertification credits for free in a truly unique setting. If you are currently teaching or hold a South Carolina teaching certificate and are looking for recertification credits, please register here no later than May 15th, 2022.
Workshops will feature ways to support English Language Arts (ELA) standards in Social Studies, Science, Technology and Math. They'll emphasize the value of community resources, including museums, with engaging hands-on workshops and activities you can take back to your classrooms.
Content will relate to the K-12 academic years. Meals and an overnight stay aboard the Fighting Lady are included.

2021 - 2022 Educator Science Café Series

Join Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum and the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium for a "brunch and learn" educator science café aboard the USS Yorktown and surrounding Shem Creek! This two-part, free event will showcase ways in which to incorporate English Language Arts (ELA) to address the new S.C. State Science Standards.
Part 1: USS Yorktown (11:30 am - 1:00 pm): Using the ship and surrounding coastal ecosystems as a foundation, educators will be invited to rotate through three learning stations designed to showcase how nature journaling (writing and drawing) and literacy can be incorporated into the virtual and/or in-person classroom.
Part 2: Shem Creek (1:00 pm - 2:30 pm): This optional part of the café will provide an opportunity to practice skills learned during Part 1 using the beautiful backdrop of Shem Creek.
Session supplies, educational resources, and brunch provided. Space is limited and registration is required by March 11, 2022. Questions can be sent to Hannah Giddens.

2021 - 2022 "Quarantrivia: Test Your S.C. Environmental Knowledge!"
Calling all educators! It’s time to roll out our second season of Quarantrivia – a free, socially-distanced, virtual trivia evening designed to test your knowledge on S.C.’s amazing environmental resources. No matter if you are a formal, nonformal, homeschool, or recent parent-turned-teacher, you are invited to sign up as an individual or team (up to four people) to flex your knowledge against others from across the state. Not only is the evening fun, but as educators you will have the chance to:
- Network with educators across the state as well as members of the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina and the South Carolina Marine Educators Association
- Access trivia questions for use with your students
- Learn how trivia topics are aligned with S.C. State Science Standards, including life science, physical science, Earth science and chemistry
- Contribute trivia questions for use in future competitions!
