Virtual Experiences

Currently we offer free, interactive virtual experiences for SC 5th grade recipients of the Oscar and Harry Reading Series. Watch as we take your class on incredible journeys led by educators that examine history lessons found aboard our historic ships. Our virtual experiences fall into two categories: Virtual Field Trips and Virtual Classes.

During a virtual field trip, our educators will lead students through specific areas onboard the USS Yorktown in real-time. During a virtual class, we stream a program live from our education lab at Patriots Point. Both programs can be offered through conference platforms of your choice. Both programs are STEM-based interactive experiences that are 15 to 30-minutes long. They can also be customized to fit specific classroom needs.

Values in the Fight Against Cyber Bullying

A literacy and activity-based program focused on the recognition and development of social values and moral judgment. The objective is to help students understand and refrain from technological activities associated with Cyberbullying. The COVID-19 pandemic has required students to use the internet and cell phones as tools, to replace in-person interaction. Without face-to-face contact as a group, teachers are limited in their ability to identify and prevent student harassment by their peers. In teaching, by example, one of the greatest group of individuals at study are those whose heroic deeds and noble character have who earned our nation’s highest military award for valor – the Medal of Honor. Through these recipients, we focus on six specific character traits: courage, integrity, sacrifice, commitment, patriotism, and citizenship.
