Everything You Need to Know for the Patriots Point Firework Blast

Chris Hauff Jun 10, 2024

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will continue the tradition of being the Lowcountry’s destination for patriotism this Fourth of July. If you’re interested in attending, here’s what you need to know as you make plans to celebrate the birth of American independence with us!

This year’s celebration will be a ticketed event happening aboard the USS Yorktown. There will be no activities on land or in the parking lot of Patriots Point.

Get exclusive access to this year’s fun and festivities aboard the historic USS Yorktown. The 4th of July Fireworks blast will include live music, food vendors, beer and wine for sale, and fireworks. Enjoy unmatched views of the Charleston Harbor and celebrate America’s birthday at this one-of-a-kind holiday experience.

Admission to this year’s event is $95 per person and includes access to both the flight deck and hangar bays of the USS Yorktown. Tickets are limited to six per person and cannot be resold. All guests over the age of one are required to purchase a ticket. The deck will open to ticket holders at 6:00 p.m. and close at the conclusion of the fireworks show. All event festivities will take place aboard the Yorktown, and no land-side viewing will be available.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

We’re located in the Town of Mount Pleasant at the base of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Our address is 40 Patriots Point Rd. Mount Pleasant, SC 29464

The Museum will open at its usual time of 9 a.m. and close early at 3 p.m. The last tickets will be sold at 2 p.m. The fireworks show will begin at full sunset, typically around 9:20 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available for sale in Hangar Bay 3 on the Main Deck from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This year’s vendors include:

  • Pro Eats
  • Fed Up
  • Wich Cream
  • King of Pops
  • Holy City Popcorn
  • Krystyna’s Polish Food Hot Dog Cart
  • Lowcountry Taps

Live music will begin at 6 p.m. on the Flight Deck and in Hangar Bay 3.

Will there be a land-side party?

No. All event festivities will take place aboard the Yorktown and no land-side viewing will be available.

Are separate pricing options available for children or military/veterans?

No. All guests over the age of one will need their own ticket.

Are there any ticket refunds if there is inclement weather?

All ticket sales are final. The fireworks will go off rain or shine.

Safety is a priority. The Patriots Point public safety team will relocate visitors to the aircraft carrier’s hangar deck if there are unsafe weather conditions. In that case, the flight deck will reopen when the storm has passed. Rain is usually not considered a safety risk. Safety measures are typically only needed for strong winds and lightning.

What time will guests be allowed on the flight deck?

Guests may board the ship starting at 6 p.m. Bag checking stations will begin land-side at 5 p.m.

Are coolers and wagons allowed?

No. Coolers and outside food/beverages are not allowed. Wheelchairs and strollers are the only wheeled items permitted on the ship.

Will tables and chairs be provided?

No seating will be provided on the Flight Deck; guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs. A limited number of tables will be available in the food court area in Hangar Bay 3.

What time will the fireworks start?

The sun is expected to begin setting at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks will begin once it is completely dark, usually by 9:20 p.m.

Can we tour the USS Yorktown if we purchase a Fireworks Blast ticket?

No, access will be limited to the USS Yorktown’s flight deck and Hangar Bays.

If I purchase a museum ticket during the day, what time will I have to leave?

The museum will close at 3:00 p.m., with the last ticket being sold at 2:00 p.m.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not permitted at Patriots Point for the Fourth of July Blast except for service animals. Service animal owners should be aware that the surface of the flight deck (an enhanced viewing ticket is needed) can get very hot in high temperatures during the summer.

Is there an elevator available for the handicapped?

Yes. We have an elevator to get to the Flight Deck and is reserved for people with mobility issues.

Can’t wait to see you there!
