Operation Intern Takeover

Chris Hauff Jul 14, 2020

Hello Patriots Point Supporters!

Jen is a proud graduate of the Citadel Class of 2020.

My name is Jen and I am a very recent graduate of the Citadel Class of 2020. My degree is in Business Administration and I was very fortunate to be a part of the Corps of Cadets while playing for their NCAA volleyball team. I am originally from Brunswick, Maryland, and have wanted to contribute to the nonprofit world since I entered college.

Currently, I work for the Yorktown Association and Foundation and my goal is to bring more attention to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum and the historic vessels that call it home. I started here working with our lovely fundraising director, Allison Hunt, and in a very short time, I fell in love with the museum culture. When I am not on board the USS Yorktown, you’ll probably find me covered in acrylics working on a painting of some sort.

I think it’s critical to show pride in our country and history.  Here at Patriots Point, stories of valor are so present everywhere you look in the museum. Many of my peers find themselves under-informed and out of touch with what our veterans and service members have done to ensure the freedoms that we enjoy today. My goal is to bring new light to the subject by bringing it to you all in fun, new ways.

Charlotte graduated in 2020 from Bishop England High School. She will become a member of the Corps of Cadets at the Citadel with the Class of 2024.

I am not alone in this effort. In fact, the whole idea for our movement came from Patriots Point’s youngest volunteer, now intern, Charlotte who has proudly served the museum every Sunday for the past three years. She noticed a lack of young adults visiting the museum and felt there needed to be efforts made to reach more of the “young adult” population.

Charlotte has lived in Charleston, SC her entire life, and recently graduated from Bishop England High School. In the fall of 2020, she will become a member of the Corps of Cadets at The Citadel with the Class of 2024. The patriotism, commitment, honor and integrity is what drove her to begin volunteering at Patriots Point.

Together we hope to bring you all smiles, history, and maybe even inspire you to visit! Stay tuned and feel free to contact us through social media. We look forward to interacting with you all during our Intern Takeover of the

Patriots Point’s Instagram page.
