USS YORKTOWN Countdown 2015, Charleston New Year’s Eve

Chris Hauff Oct 30, 2014

On Wednesday, December 31st, 2014, the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier in Mount Pleasant, SC will not be occupied with the usual wanderers exploring a decommissioned ship. Instead, it will be transformed into the third annual Yorktown Countdown, Charleston’s largest New Year’s Celebration. This exclusive event will provide multiple admission level options, great live music and magnificent views for the holiday festivities.

From 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM, guests of the event will see live bands and dj’s from all genres imaginable, including funk, rock, dance, and Top 40 Billboard hits. Headlining acts include The Breakfast Club, our nation’s longest running and most recognized ‘80’s tribute band. Formed in 1993, this hugely popular trio has shared the stage with numerous music legends, including, Whitesnake, The Romantics, Poison, Drivin’n’Cryin’, Hootie and the Blowfish and The Smithereens.

Next up is Charleston’s Premier Party Band℠, Super Deluxe, who will be performing alongside 2-year Yorktown Countdown veterans, High Society. Bearing trumpets and horns, keyboard and saxophone, several amazing vocalists and more, Super Deluxe has made a splash by performing countless major events in and around the Southeast. This 8-piece super group will play major pop music hits from the last 40 years with heavy doses of hip hop, funk, disco, and current Top 40 including hits from from Notorious BIG and Jay-Z to P-Funk and Earth Wind & Fire, as well as Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake and more. Similarly speaking, High Society has made its name as Charleston’s only true-root hip hop band by performing a large number of private and public events throughout the Southeast since 2009. This powerful 5-piece presents a range of music from the 80’s and 90’s core all the way up to the present. Finally, dj performances aboard the carrier include Rehab and Kilgo as guests enjoy pop, disco, dance, and top billboard hit mixes from the past 5 decades.

First Aboard (General Admission) and Captain (VIP) tickets are available for purchase offering different amenities and access levels aboard the carrier. First Aboard tickets start at $100 per person and include an all-inclusive full service bar, light hors d’oeuvres, and access to the indoor airplane hangar as well as access the outdoor fantail area (on the same level). Captain tickets start at $150 per person and give patrons the complete Yorktown Countdown experience offering everything under First Aboard, plus access to the Yorktown’s rooftop flight deck (which will be tented and heated), a top-shelf all-inclusive bar, top-rated dj performances, large-screen ball drop, and much more.
