Yorktown from the top!

Here are a couple of images from our maintenance supply guy, William “Billy” Weatherford. My post on the ghost bomb hit from 18 March inspired him to forward these images in an email and here are his comments from it…

The next two pictures are of our Pavilion area, the Golf Course and Shem Creek in the distance and taken from our mast.   Here is a picture that I took looking down from about 30 feet above the 011 deck with my feet on the edge also.

How high is Billy? I’ll have to think about it…the O-3 level (flight deck) is 60 feet above the waterline (today’s carriers the flight deck is the O-4 level, 70 feet)…I think the island levels are not 10 feet apart like the O-1 to O-3…I’ll update the number when I consult the experts…

And the ANSWER is 150 to 160 feet…
