Having a Blast: What to Know Before You Go to the 4th of July Fireworks Blast
Red, white, and blue are well known colors at Patriots Point. On the 4th of July, those colors become even more vibrant, as we set the stage for the ultimate Independence Day celebration from the deck of the USS Yorktown.
Once aboard our historic aircraft carrier, you’ll experience live music, classic cookout staples from Charleston food vendors, and fun for the whole group. And when the sun goes down, get ready for a dazzling fireworks display over Charleston Harbor that'll light up your summer.

Know Before You Go:
- Only clear bags are allowed for safety purposes. Small non-clear clutches (maximum 4.5" x 6.5") are permitted. Chairs are welcome but must be removed from carrying bags before entry. All items are subject to search. Items not meeting guidelines must be returned to your vehicle.
- Parking is available in Patriots Point lot. Space is limited. Parking fees are not included in event tickets and must be paid separately through the Pay By Plate QR code system, based on posted rates.
- The museum will close at 3:00 PM on July 4, with the last general admission ticket sold at 2:00 PM. Museum admission does not include access to this event. A separate July 4th Blast ticket is required for entry. Only July 4th Blast ticket holders will be allowed to remain in the parking lot after museum hours.
- Seating is limited. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and small tables. Bagged chairs must be removed from their bags before entry.
- Pets are not allowed onboard the USS Yorktown, with the exception of service animals. Please note the flight deck can become extremely hot during the summer.
- Coolers, outside food or beverages, and wagons are not permitted. Only strollers and wheelchairs are allowed on board.
Important: All ticket sales are final. The fireworks show will take place, rain or shine.
