Meet the Author of Top Gun Memos

The film Top Gun has become an icon in American culture. Patriots Point visitors are often reminded of the film when visiting the F-14 Tomcat on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown. Learn more about the making of the film during a free event. On Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m., meet Meredith Jordan, the author of Top Gun Memos: The Making and Legacy of an Iconic Movie. Top Gun Memos uses production documents, news articles, and dozens of interviews to tell the behind-the-scenes story of the film. This includes the dangers and challenges filmmakers encountered.

The event will include a presentation, Q&A with the audience, and book signing opportunity. Jordan will share more about the US Navy’s contributions to the film, particularly the use of planes and pilots.  The event is free to attend but does require RSVP.
