Three Harbor Attractions Now Offer One Convenient Pass

Molly Hamilton Aug 02, 2018

The South Carolina Aquarium, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, and the Charleston Water Taxi have joined together for the new Charleston Waterfront Pass. For the first time, the three organizations have partnered to create a special pass that is perfect for families and visitors who want to see two of the top Charleston-area attractions and enjoy a boat ride across the harbor.

Passholders can choose to begin their waterfront adventure at either the South Carolina Aquarium or Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum and then take in breathtaking views of the Charleston Harbor while riding the Charleston Water Taxi to the remaining attraction. Visitors may show each attraction’s ticket staff their pass, and it will be redeemed for one standard admission ticket. Visits to each attraction are not required to take place on the same day, but must be used before the expiration date noted on the pass.

The Charleston Waterfront Pass is available exclusively through the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and can be purchased at its four staffed visitor centers:

  • Downtown Charleston at 375 Meeting St.
  • Kiawah Island at 4475 Betsy Kerrison Pkwy.
  • Mount Pleasant at 99 Harry M. Hallman, Jr. Blvd.
  • North Charleston at 4975-B Centre Pointe Dr.

The combined price of the pass allows visitors to save nearly $15 off the price of visiting each participating attraction on its own. Pricing is as follows:

  • Adults (ages 13+): $52.95
  • Children (ages 6-12): $38.95
  • Children (ages 3-5): $26.95

do you have to order the pass on line or can you pick up tickets theerjimmy

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi Jimmy. Currently the pass can only be purchased at one of the four Charleston Area CVB Visitor’s Centers.

  2. Hayes Richard says:

Where all can you go on the water taxi

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi Hayes. Thanks for your interest in this great new pass. The two-way trip on the water taxi is meant to take passengers from either the Aquarium to Patriots Point, or vice versa. It’s about a 5-10-minute ride across the harbor and is often filled with sights of dolphins and cargo ships.

Please let us know if you have any further questions about the Charleston Waterfront Pass.

  3. Jan Polkow says:

If you start at Patriots Point, take the taxi to the aquarium, can you bring the taxi back to Patriots Point to pick up your car?

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi Jan. Thanks for your interest in the Charleston Waterfront Pass. Yes, the pass allows a two-way trip on the water taxi. So if you leave your car at our museum and then take the water taxi to the aquarium, you would be able to use your pass to return to the aquarium for your car. Once you have used both trips on the water taxi to/from the aquarium/our museum, then that part of the pass can no longer be used.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  4. Weekend in Charleston says:

Hello Molly, does this pass allow one to see the CSA submarine Hunley… is it open to the public yet?

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi! No, the Hunley is in North Charleston where it is still undergoing restoration. It is not a part of our museum, but you could find out more about the Hunley on their website: http://www.hunley.org.

  5. Sally Behar says:

We will be arriving by cruise ship and would love to spend the day visiting the USS Yorktown and Maritime Museum and Aquarium. With using this pass, is the water taxi close to the cruise terminal for us to take advantage of this offer?

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi Sally. I apologize for the delay in responding. We were closed for nearly a week in preparation for Hurricane Florence, even though she ultimately did not have us in her path. If you want to take advantage of this pass when you are visiting by cruise ship, you will be very close to both the Charleston Water Taxi and the SC Aquarium when your ship docks. You will, however, have to walk or take a cab or pedi-cab to the closest CVB location to purchase the pass. It’s a great idea to take advantage of this pass when you arrive by cruise ship. We hope to see you soon!

  6. Peggy Rogers says:

Does the water taxi take you out to Fort Sumter?

    1. Molly Hamilton says:

Hi Peggy. The Charleston Water Taxi does not have a stop at Fort Sumter, but Fort Sumter Tours operates from a location here at our museum, and across the harbor at a location right next to the SC Aquarium — the Charleston Water Taxi makes stops next to both of those disembarking locations.

  7. I see my pass I just purchased in April does not expire until September. Can I use the pass more than once?
